so after a long horrible colder than forty bastrd witch tits winter, summer’s finally on the way in japan. and with that comes an increase in getting on the mish and riding bikes on crazy old shinto pilgrim trails. the island of shikoku where i live is home to 88 sacred shinto shrines, and the old school pilgrimage of walking the circumference of shikoku to visit them all at least once in ones lifetime. so me and chris the honky ninja aren’t quite feeling up to walking around shikoku, cos it takes a few weeks non-stop. but we have been exploring the possibility that the old, unused pilgrim trails are RIDABLE.

here’s the first one…

ninja chris on the mish.

delicious rocks…

…that you can air off!

chris near the bottom of the trail thru a tunnel of trees. this trail starts at 1200m above sealevel and goes down to about 400m. its all rock-strewn singletrack, and you can drive to the top too. it’s nearest to a town called toon, hence we named the trail looney toons. nice.

also got a bunch of riding done (in amazing weather) when i was back in NZ.

mum, me and dad out the back of alexandra somewhere.

the olds riding past some massive old rock.

timo ripping thru whakarewarewa, rotorua.

post ride passout, whakarewarewa, rotorua.
